Key Hanger Updated and Our Winner!

Happy Sunday!
It's a beautiful sunny morning here in Texas. Our weather is finally getting more tolerable now, we just need some nice soaking rains to help green things back up and stop all the wild fires the state has been seeing.

We are still working on the dining room. It's turned out to be quite the job trying to line up the pattern on the bead board we are using for out wainscoting.  I hope to have an update on that next week.
On to my project for today.  I got this old key hanger quite some time back from an Etsy shop and although I love the vintage looking key hanger part, I didn't really like the painted flowers on it.  So, I changed it to fit the more modern look of our home.

This is how it looked to start with. A bit beat up and rough around the edges. But I'm so luvin the vintage looking key hanger!
I used some Rust-oleum Oil Rubbed Bronze (ORB) spray paint to bring my sad looking key hanger into the modern world.
Here it is after two (2) coats of ORB.  I let it dry really good for about 3 days before I tried to apply the vinyl letters.  I used my Cricut Expression machine and the Opposites Attract cartridge to cut out my letters and the little heart flowers.
I think I like it, but it all looks a bit too polished to me right about now. I may have to get out my mouse sanders and give it little roughin' up! Heehee!

We just moved away from the DFW area in April and although I am loving many things about Colorado, I miss my home state of Texas too! My husband and I drove through Decatur a few different times heading out or returning home from little day road trips around the area. The courthouse is so beautiful but the rest of this was new to me. Thanks! Your man's truck is great! Neat photo op too. That petrified station is wild!

If you're up for trying out a new barbecue joint, we always liked to eat at a place that I don't actually know the name of but it was right on one of the main streets and it looks like it used to be a Dairy Queen because of the layout and the glass windows jutting out in the front. They have THE BEST shells and cheese. :) oh yum!

Thanks for this fun "trip" back to Texas this morning. I came over from the linky party. Kelly
